Salam Pherne Se Pehle Ki Dua in Namaz with English, Urdu Translation
At the end of every Salah, just before saying the final Salam, the believer gets a golden chance to ask Allah for forgiveness and mercy. This is a very special moment because the servant has stood in front of Allah, praised Him, glorified Him, and sent blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ. Now, before completing the prayer, a powerful dua “Salam Pherne Se Pehle Ki Dua” can be made, the dua taught by the Prophet ﷺ himself:
“Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi zulman kaseeran, wala yaghfiruz-zunooba illa anta, faghfir li maghfiratan min ‘indika, warhamni innaka antal-ghafoorur-raheem.” (hisn:57)

English Translation
“O Allah! I have wronged myself greatly, and none forgives sins except You. So forgive me with a forgiveness from You, and have mercy on me. Surely, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”
Roman Urdu Translation
“Allah! maine apni jaan par bohot zulm kiya hai, aur aap ke siwa koi bhi gunah maaf nahi kar sakta. To mujhe apni taraf se khaas bakhshish ata farma aur mujh par reham kar. Beshak aap hi sab se zyada Bakhshne wale aur Reham karne wale hain.”
Benefits of Reciting This Salam Pherne Se Pehle ki Dua
This “Salam Pherne Se Pehle Ki Dua” is one of the most beautiful confessions a believer can make. The words begin with an admission: “I have wronged myself greatly.” This shows humility and recognition of our shortcomings.
Then comes the acknowledgment: “None can forgive sins except You.” This takes the heart directly towards Allah’s mercy and away from hopelessness. Finally, the believer asks: “Forgive me with a forgiveness from You, and have mercy on me. Surely, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”
By reciting this dua before salam, the servant seals the prayer with repentance, hope, and complete surrender to Allah.
When to Recite This Dua?
The dua “Allahumma inni zalamtu nafsi…” is a reminder that no matter how many mistakes we make, the doors of Allah’s mercy are always open. If recited with sincerity, this supplication can become a means of forgiveness, mercy, and peace in both worlds.
May Allah accept our Salah, forgive our sins, and cover us with His infinite mercy. Ameen.
